 Reading :

   Reading is a process to decoding the words. It is a process to understand the words. Reading is the communication between author and reading. It is a part of our daily life, we used at different situations and different times. Sometimes we read for enjoyment, sometimes we read for need. It is very useful because it improves our knowledge, ideas, information, critical thinking and clear our concept. Reading is used at different fields in education. Teacher and students both have involved in reading. It also used outside of the institutions. It used at offices, administration, home, shops and others. There are five components of Reading. (I) Phonics (ii) Phonemic awareness (iii) Fluency (iv) vocabulary (v) comprehension.

 Reading Assessment:

        Reading assessment is a process to know about the reader’s strength and weaknesses. It is a process to know about the students skills. This process helps teachers to understand the students’ weaknesses and strengths in reading and help them to solve their problems. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses. Teacher should involve every student in reading activity. For improving the weak student’s strength, Teacher should sit them together lazy student sit with strength student and also involve them with their activities and also give them chance in every activity. The main thing is that lazy or weak student’s can build their abilities by the caring and sharing of classmates and teacher sacrifice.

 How to Assess Reading Skills :

                 For assessing the reading skills, teacher assesses their phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, Comprehension, pronunciation of words, confidence, involvement and their aloud reading.

 Phonics : In phonics teacher assess their using of letters, sounds of letters and connection of letters. Example : A (Aaaay), B (Beeee) , C (see)

 Phonemic Awareness : Assess their words sounds and connection of words. Assess the abilities to hear and manipulate the sounds.

Example: Cat (k-aa-t) , Dog (Daa-oo-g).

 Fluency: Teacher assesses the speed, accuracy and proper expressions of students.

 Vocabulary: Teacher assesses the knowledge and meaning of words.

 Comprehension: Teacher assesses the understanding of student that how much they understand the concept of topic which they read.
